Bertram Goodman – Steel Forest (1960)

This black and white lithograph entitled Steel Forest is by Bertram Goodman (1904-1988), a listed American artist. It was printed in 1960 by Associated American Artists and bears the original AAA label en verso. It is signed and titled by artist in pencil. The image is matted to 9.25 by 15.75 inches, and the total size with the distinctive original AAA frame and white mat is 14.75 by 18.75 inches. The image is in good condition with no toning or foxing; the mat has slight mat burn at the edges.

Despite its being created in 1960, this urban image evokes a classic feel of social realism and the WPA New Deal Federal Arts Project aesthetic.

Reynold H. Weidenaar – Repose

This 1951 mezzotint titled Repose is by Reynold H. Weidenaar (1915-1985), a well-listed American artist. It was published by Associated American Artists with an edition size of 250. The piece is signed and titled by artist in pencil. It is matted to 11.5 by 13.5 inches, and the total size with the original champagne blonde frame and white mat is 16.75 by 20.5 inches. The piece contains some slight mat burn at the edges of the image, but otherwise it is in very good condition.

This is a classic WPA and art deco style image from this important American artist that makes an overall fine impression.
